This city is easy, friendly and laid back. There was a buzz around the place when I was there, with the opening of the annual jazz festival, which attracts tens of thousands of people.
Montreal is the second largest French speaking city in the world. Fortunately (for me) the vast majority of people are bi-lingual. That said, French wine is the wine of choice, and the restaurants are excellent.
This city would be fascinating to visit in winter, where the temperatures drop from +35 in summer, to -35! They have adapted the place with plenty of underground walkways and shopping malls as walking the streets is not an option.
