A country that was so expensive for visitors like me at the time of my visit, has now been humbled by the world recession, and in some ways contributed to it in the first place.
But what an amazing place it is. Basically a large volcanic rock battered by an unforgiving Atlantic wind, but glorious to view in the sun or snow. You need to get used to the sulphur “egg” smell; even the showers smell of it. The outside thermal baths have to be experienced, as does the "putrified shark", which is basically raw rotten shark, having been stored and hung for quite sometime. Unlikely to become an international dish I feel.
